What is Biote® Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Bioidentical pellet therapy is a form of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) that uses small, customized pellets made from natural plant sources to deliver bioidentical hormones into the body. Your hormones are one of the most important regulatory systems embedded in your body. They act as messengers, designed to interact with specific target cells and organs and provoke a change or result. As we age hormone production changes and hormone imbalance can occur. Unbalanced hormones can have a variety of side effects and symptoms.

  • Q1: What is bioidentical pellet therapy? Bioidentical pellet therapy is a form of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) that uses small, customized pellets made from natural plant sources to deliver bioidentical hormones into the body. These hormones are structurally identical to the hormones naturally produced by the body.

Q2: How is bioidentical pellet therapy administered? Bioidentical pellets are typically inserted subcutaneously (under the skin) in a simple and quick in-office procedure. The pellets slowly release hormones over time, providing a consistent and steady hormone balance.

Q3: What are the benefits of bioidentical pellet therapy? Bioidentical pellet therapy can help address hormonal imbalances and alleviate symptoms associated with hormone deficiencies, such as fatigue, low libido, mood swings, hot flashes, and sleep disturbances. It aims to restore hormonal balance and improve overall well-being and quality of life.

Q4: How long do the pellets last? The duration of the pellets varies depending on the individual's unique hormonal needs and metabolism. In most cases, bioidentical pellets can last between three to six months, after which a follow-up pellet insertion may be recommended.

Q5: Are the hormones in bioidentical pellets safe? Bioidentical hormones used in pellet therapy are derived from natural plant sources and are structurally identical to the hormones produced by the body. When prescribed and monitored by a qualified healthcare professional, bioidentical pellet therapy is considered safe and well-tolerated.

Q6: How are the hormones in bioidentical pellets customized? Before the insertion of bioidentical pellets, a thorough evaluation is conducted, including hormone level testing and a comprehensive medical history review. This information helps determine the appropriate dosage and formulation of hormones tailored to each individual's specific needs.

Q7: Can bioidentical pellet therapy benefit both men and women? Yes, bioidentical pellet therapy can be beneficial for both men and women. It can help restore hormonal balance in menopause, andropause (male menopause), and other hormone-related conditions in both genders.

Q8: Are there any side effects associated with bioidentical pellet therapy? As with any medical treatment, there can be potential side effects with bioidentical pellet therapy. However, side effects are typically rare and generally associated with improper dosing or individual sensitivity. A qualified healthcare professional will monitor your hormone levels and adjust the treatment as necessary to minimize any potential side effects.

Q9: How can I determine if bioidentical pellet therapy is right for me? The best way to determine if bioidentical pellet therapy is suitable for you is to schedule a consultation. They will evaluate your symptoms, review your medical history, and conduct necessary tests to determine the most appropriate treatment plan for your specific needs.
